Meet the Team: Kate Roe

We’re heading to Lancashire for today’s installment of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, where we’ll be talking to Kate Roe about first time buyers, Bury football club and driving fish.

Simon: Afternoon Kate, we’ll kick off with this…what’s great about Blackburn and Bolton?

Kate: It's such a vast area that you see many different cultures. There's a lot of heritage that even people that live within the area sometimes aren’t aware of. Great restaurants, schools, shopping centres ("The Middlebrook", which is my local and the largest in Europe. It also houses the almighty "Macron Stadium").

Simon: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Kate: A chef! I love cooking and I’m always coming up with some sort of concoction.

Simon: If you had to choose your last meal what would it be?

Kate: That’s a hard one however as my colleagues know, it’s got to be Curry.

Simon: What would you name the autobiography of your life?

Kate: Roe, Roe, Roe your boat gently down the stream.........or not so gently.

Simon: What’s your favourite property on our listings?

Kate: At the minute for me, it’s got to be Vale View in Bolton. It’s already been snapped up but it’s such a lovely cottage, with so much potential, in a fantastic area called Eagley which demands high prices. It requires modernisation but you could turn it into a stunning home.

Simon: What advice would you give first time buyers?

Kate: Have imagination when viewing houses, think how you can make it your home. Even a house that looks like a show home might not tick all the boxes and can hide a multitude of sins, with a change in decor you can make a house into a real home.

Simon: Where do you see the property industry in 5 years time?

Kate: Being dominated by Purplebricks!  When 100% mortgages were no more, it had a massive affect on the market. I was one of those buyers who took a 110% mortgage and had no equity in my house because of this. Parents are now understanding how hard it is for their children to buy and are saving up from them being born to ensure they can get on the property ladder. Over the years having a deposit will be the norm and hopefully it won’t be a struggle to buy, therefore the market should improve but by no means reach the levels of 2007 again.

Simon: Now for a few quick fire questions…..Early bird or Night owl?

Kate: Night owl. I’m normally the last one standing. Work hard, play hard is my motto!!!

Simon: Football or Rugby?

Kate: Football, I used to play for Bury Football Club, Girls Division.

Simon: Superman or Batman?

Kate: Batman! He’s definitely the superhero of the century.

Simon: Winter or Summer?

Kate: Summer, I was born for the Sun.

Simon: Coffee or Tea?

Kate: A good Millicano Coffee.

Simon: And finally… What’s your best joke?

Kate: Two fish in a tank, one says to the other. “Who’s driving then?”.
