Time for a quick chat with our Newcastle Local Property Expert Iain Strachan who reveals his favourite Purplebricks properties and his best joke. Read on...
Simon: What’s great about Newcastle?
Iain: Newcastle is such a friendly area and is renowned for its great hospitality and Geordie night-life. However, there is so much more to Newcastle than that. There are many historical points including Roman fort remains and stunning architecture evidenced by the modern Sage building and Millennium Bridge. The city also boasts some very passionate sports fans and state of the art stadiums which were involved in the 2012 Olympics. There’s a wide range of cultures here, all combining to form a vibrant city.
Simon: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Iain: I love my sports so to have been a professional in one of them would have been great.
Simon: If you had to choose your last meal, what would it be?
Iain: It would have to be pizza! Lots of meat, spice but no onions.
Simon: What would you name the autobiography of your life?
Iain: The Scottish Geordie (Born in Aberdeen, grew up in Newcastle)
Simon: What’s your favourite property on our listings?
Iain: I am torn between two. We have an amazing six bedroom house in Deepwood, Jesmond for £1.85 million and a five bedroom Beach House in Cambois which has open views of the coast at £330,000.
Simon: What advice would you give first time buyers?
Iain: Be prepared. Make sure you've had independent mortgage advice and know exactly what you can afford. Be open to different locations as you may find your dream home is just outside your specific area.
Simon: Where do you see the property industry in 5 years time?
Iain: It's so difficult to predict but with all the new homes being built in the North East and continued investment into numerous re-generation projects, the market can only continue to improve.
Simon: Now for a few quick fire questions…..early bird or night owl?
Iain: Night owl.
Football or Rugby?
Iain: Football (Liverpool).
Superman or Batman?
Iain: I had to ask my little boy his favourite and he said Batman!!!
Winter or Summer?
Iain: Summer – Happiest when in shorts!
Coffee or Tea?
Iain: Coffee – black, no sugar.
And finally……..what’s your best joke?
Iain: My mate was acting clever and claimed that an onion is the only food to make you cry. So I threw a coconut in his face….
