Snowgoose is a classically designed, elegant motor yacht with a proud maritime history. She is a rare historical motorboat from a significant period in boatbuilding - an elegant art deco cruiser originally built for use on the Norfolk Broads. She was first commissioned for private use in 1959 by a Mr Edward Suckling of Norwich. Subsequently she was designed and built in 1962 by the prestigious Landamores company. Her original name was ‘Eclan’ – inspired by the initials of E.C. Landamore of Hoveton. The design itself was based on an earlier Landamores model called the ‘Vestella’, a small number of which were built during the 1940s and 1950s. In 2013 Snowgoose was meticulously restored by the Suffolk-based International Boatbuilding Training College (IBTC). This included replacement of most of the hull and topside timbers, along with the installation of new decks and coach roofs. Internally she was sympathetically remodelled to enable the use of modern technology while retaining the original art deco design. In April 2014 Snowgoose won the ‘Powerboat of the Year’ Award, as reported in Classic Boat Magazine – a tribute to the calibre of the restoration work that was carried out. She is also registered as a national historic ship. Snowgoose has been well maintained since her refurbishment in 2013. Most recently she was placed in dry dock to have her hull repainted in April 2020. A comfortable 6 berth cruiser, Snowgoose is 38 feet in overall length with a 12-foot beam. The interior woodwork is comprised of light and dark oak, with mahogany floors. For cruises, she can be completely self-sufficient for up to 3 weeks.
